We are seeking a skilled Satellite Imagery Specialist to manage the end-to-end process of acquiring, pr ocessing, and preparing satellite imagery for seamless integration into mapping platforms. The role involves downloading high-resolution satellite data, stitching imagery into continuous layers, and applying normalization techniques to ensure consistency and quality. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge geographic data for applications in mapping and analysis, starting with a Proof of Concept (POC) for the India region. Responsibilities 1. Satellite Imagery Acquisition Identify and source high-resolution satellite imagery from open platforms such as USGS Earth Explorer and other publicly available APIs. Ensure imagery covers the specified geographic regions with minimal cloud cover and adheres to project requirements. Initially focus on obtaining satellite data for the India region as part of the POC. 2. Image Stitching Seamlessly align and stitch multiple satellite images into a continuous, unified layer. Address and correct any gaps, distortions, or inconsistencies in the stitched output to maintain image integrity. 3. Image Normalization and Enhancement Adjust brightness, contrast, and color balance to ensure uniformity across images from different sources. Apply corrections for lighting variations and atmospheric effects to enhance image quality. Standardize resolution and tile formats for compatibility with mapping platforms. 4. Output Preparation and Delivery Export processed images in standard raster formats such as GeoTIFF, JPEG2000, or PNG, with proper georeferencing. Deliver the final satellite layer as tiled map images ready for use in web-based or GIS applications. Requirements - Proven experience in GIS software such as QGIS, GDAL, or ArcGIS, with expertise in satellite image processing workflows. - Strong knowledge of satellite imagery sources, APIs, and tools for downloading high-resolution -geographic data. - Demonstrated expertise in image stitching, normalization, and color balancing techniques. - Ability to deliver a high-quality, seamless satellite layer optimized for rendering on mapping platforms. - Familiarity with raster formats (e.g., GeoTIFF, JPEG2000) and georeferencing standards.
