I'm looking for a freelancer to help me start a bi-weekly, monthly or one non-fiction ‘help me out’ podcast centered on life’s rotten experiences and how we’re impacted by them, choices we make as an result and how our friends, lovers, compadres may fare through it all and fixing that.
I’m a seasoned interviewer/psychotherapist/musician from NYC who moved to the desert in SoCal and definitely crushes all the neg-head narrative on talking to a therapist. Columbia University grad with 35 post-grad years of experience with alcoholics and addicts, teenagers, parents, LBGTQ+ and whomever you can imagine may need a podcast like this. Surprise me!
Fast moving, comedic with a cut to the chase direct and honest commentary. Think Ellen DeGeneres meets Tony Soprano with an awesome set of skills for helping.
With long naturally-silver hair, a small freaky expressive therapy dog, heavy Bronx NY accent that doesn’t stop and a live music performance too if you think it would fly.
I want and need feedback from a producer who gets this and is somewhat fearless.
Can get pretty good interviewees. PLUS free, live consummate help to those who watch or listen to the Podcast AND a chance to be interviewed on camera, issues and all! Not only interviewed but ultimately put in the right direction for getting through it and even healing. Wow.
Referrals to local professional therapists included of course.
I’ll need remote interview capability bc most of my ‘show-clients’ are in NY for now. I’m licensed in NYS and still practicing.
I have written several episodes already but prefer to wing-it in the moment things are revealed to create thrills and chills ?
Key Responsibilities:
- Content/Idea Creation: Help develop engaging, life-centered non-fiction stories and ideas for episodes.
- Interviewing: Bring in guests for interviews and help with something specific.
- Production: Oversee the editing and final production of each episode.
- Promotion: Help strategize and implement a plan for podcast promotion.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Probably some prior experience in podcast production or radio broadcasting or audio recording would be good.
- Strong input skills with the ability to say “yeah, not working!”
- I have broad experience in conducting interviews, being in front of a mic and audience, making people laugh and of course empathy and compassion.
- Knowledge of podcast promotion strategies.
